FRAMEWORKS & TOOLs
Enhancing your conservation toolbox
We develop intellectually rigorous yet user-friendly frameworks and tools to overcome the practical hurdles of planning and monitoring conservation projects. Using insights gained from our experience working with different teams and across disciplines, we identify the innovations and adaptations required to make project management better and easier. How-to guidance for good conservation practice
We have developed several how-to guides designed to help conservation practitioners using the Open Standards for the Practice of Conservation, develop, operationalize, and learn from their strategic plans.
The current list of guides (available in our Library) includes:

Defining and using evidence in conservation practice
Despite growing interest in evidence-based conservation, there is not clear guidance for practitioners on what evidence is or how to realistically apply it to their work. This paper is the product of a Conservation Measures Partnership (CMP) working group that brought together leading experts from both practice and academia to more explicitly incorporate principles of evidence-based conservation into the Open Standards, a global common framework and set of best practices for effective conservation work.
Software to improve your conservation efforts
Miradi is a user-friendly program that allows nature conservation practitioners to design, manage, monitor, and learn from their projects to more effectively meet their conservation goals. Miradi Share is a cloud-based system that supports Miradi desktop and offers geographic representation of project components. The programs guide users through a series of step-by-step interview wizards, based on the Open Standards.
