Kari joined the FOS team in 2020 as a Senior Program Officer. She is based in Seattle, Washington (the “other” Washington) where she enjoys exploring the wilds of the Pacific Northwest and growing as much food as possible in her small urban yard. Before joining FOS, Kari spent over ten years working on protecting and recovering Puget Sound, most recently as the Adaptive Systems Program Manager at the Puget Sound Partnership, the state agency responsible for leading and coordinating the work of hundreds of partners to recover Puget Sound. Prior to working on Puget Sound recovery in the private and public sectors, Kari enjoyed working as a landscape architect and environmental planner, teaching landscape architecture and biology to graduate and undergraduate students, and building the foundations for a career that ensures lifelong learning about the environment. Kari’s favorite part of her work is helping partners develop and use tools to support difficult decision-making.
